After years of waiting, the City announced the launch of a discussion paper on co-op housing lease renewals. The paper proposes four scenarios that “aim to maximize the delivery of affordable housing on public land while also providing stability to residents.” This announcement was greeting by a series of news articles, plus a CBC Radio interview with CHF BC director, Thom Armstrong.
We are exploring the range of homes created within a context for affordability, community and for environmental reasons…..or all three. Including tiny homes for the homeless, tiny house clusters, cooperatives, cohousing, community land trusts, floating homes, and the need to reimagine the village.
Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are a largely “uncharted” vehicle with the potential to retain much needed affordable housing, and finance future sustainable and locally guided development, in Metro Vancouver.
