28 Day Challenge

February 8th, 2010

I’m back.

Finally.

What started as a seven-day break while I was traveling over Christmas has turning into a seven week hiatus that is threatening to become permanent unless I take radical measures.  It’s not that I haven’t had anything interesting to blog about or share.  Rather, it’s just the opposite—I’ve found it difficult to carve out the time to write regular posts.

This is where the 28 Day Blogging Challenge comes in. I first learned about the challenge a few weeks ago, when Tyler Hurst, my CenPhoCamp (a ’28 day’ challenge in itself) co-conspirator mentioned that he was accepting the challenge on this blog.  Since then I’ve noticed a few other social media colleagues committing to blog every day for 28 days straight (including weekends).

The concept behind the challenge is to blog each of the 28 days in February.  As we’re already eight days into to the month,  to compensate, I’m committing to blog for the next 28 days (through March 8th), starting bright and early tomorrow morning.

Some people are doing it to help increase their traffic and or subscribers, and are taking benchmarks to measure their progress. Others are doing it to improve their writing. I’m doing it for both, but mainly to help me find my blogging voice.  To date, my posts have been a mismatch of thoughts, observations, links and re-posts of my writings on other sites.  I still haven’t found an authentic voice and style.  I’m hoping the commitment to write for 28 days straight will help in this endeavor.  As well, committing to write each day will push me to break through any writing blocks I have and force me to carve out time to write each day.

Feel free to comment and critique me along the way, and to keep me honest.  I’ll need all the help I can get!

Let the fun begin!

  1. I know you can do it! 🙂 I would offer to do it with you, but I kinda have a full plate right now…good luck!

  2. Glad to see you’ve joined in on the challenge. As I mentioned in a comment on Scott’s post, I’m just doing it for my own enjoyment & fun. No specific purpose for me other than I like to write & share.
